Part 1: A Spark of Interest
My venture into web design began when my grandfather, a real estate developer and investor, needed a website for a commercial vacation rental business on Clearwater Beach, FL. He came to me knowing that I was the “tech-savvy” grandchild and I was determined to assist, so I delved into the world of web design and coding to start learning. I was still very young at the time, 13 years old, but I slowly became more and more passionate as I learned more. When I felt ready, I gave it a shot. I designed and developed a user-friendly vacation rental website containing 5 separate properties with direct booking. I also learned how to create a logo and build ads, resulting in his website quickly rising in Google search rankings, and becoming a central hub for his business that garnered over 20,000 monthly visitors.
Part 2: From Prodigy to Professional
The success with my grandfather’s project didn’t go unnoticed. Soon, family and friends spread the word about my skills, labeling me a “young genius” and “prodigy.” This encouragement propelled me to start extending my services to local CPAs, Realtors, consignment shops, and more. I started finding more opportunities and success, but I was still young and focused on finishing high school, so it took until 2020 to take the leap and officially establish Vantage Media Solutions as an LLC.
The Engineering Perspective
As my web design business got off the ground, I continued my educational career at the University of South Florida studying Mechanical Engineering. My educational background adds a unique dimension to my approach. The analytical, clinical, logical, and calculated thinking ingrained in engineering has allowed me to bring an “engineering mind to web design.” This perspective enables me to provide not just aesthetically pleasing websites but also those optimized for performance and SEO.
